The Altum Group returned to the City of Redlands to provide contract planning services for an eight month period beginning in early 2019. Principal Planner Rich Malacoff, AICP was asked to return to work at the One Stop Permit Center and as a former City employee, he was excited to head back to where his career started and showcase his customer service skills. Assigned to the front counter, his key responsibilities included processing permits, performing plan checks, processing special event applications, assigning addresses, providing information on historic preservation, processing sign applications, and conducting project intake. Highlights of this assignment include working with owners of Historic Structures to obtain the permits they need to have the house of their dreams, helping businesses organize their Special Events to ensure safety for all attendees and conducting plan check services. One other activity that was especially meaningful was Rich helping train two new employees on providing counter service and navigating the complexities of the Redlands Zoning Ordinance.

The Altum Group is proud to have many Planners, Surveyors, and Engineers who provide the highest quality municipal services to our clients. This assignment adds to our portfolio of contract planning services within the Inland Empire region, Western Riverside County, Coachella Valley, and high desert areas of San Bernardino County. Other clients that Altum staff have served (both while at Altum and through prior employment) include the Cities of Colton, Moreno Valley, Menifee, Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Twentynine Palms, Rancho Cucamonga, Cathedral City, Carlsbad, Hemet, La Quinta, and the Counties of Riverside and San Bernardino. Our staff’s planning knowledge allows them to quickly adapt to new planning and environmental planning assignments from day one. We look forward to the next opportunity to showcase our ability to Strive Higher for our contract planning clients.
